Consulting firm, internal IT department. When PwC posted an opening for a 'Google Ninja', I knew it was my moment to shine. I started as a 1st level supporter with focus on Workspace, and later became a 2nd level supporter, ultimately joining our Workspace Service Manager for Denmark in a two-man team with a sole focus on Workspace service management, change management, support, Chrome Enterprise management and creating custom-built solutions in Apps Script and BigQuery connected Sheets.
PwC operated a single Workspace instance for the majority of their member firms. As part of our change management processes, I took part in global Workspace service management Meet calls and Chat Spaces, where I actively contributed to the discussion and helped other member firms. I was eager to understand how PwC set up and managed an instance of +300.000 users and as such, I would often reach out to our global Workspace architects asking how we solved a particular issue, but also why we solved it this way. My proactive engagement resulted in getting offered a tour of duty position with the global change management team, which I ultimately turned down due to an increasing focus on M365.
Things took a different turn when PwC United States finally decided to switch to M365 as their primary collaboration suite, making all other member firms follow suit, including PwC Denmark. My tasks became helping migration efforts and sunsetting Workspace. I took pride in my ownership of various projects and helping them with their migration paths.
However, this migration to M365 has been an enormous learning opportunity for me from an end-user perspective. While I had used Microsoft environments before, this was the first time I could compare the two side by side, and really feel the difference between a cloud native productivity suite vs what I believe to be the old way. There is just no comparison when it comes to reliability, browser-based tools and ease of use. I believe this M365 experience has greatly enhanced my appreciation of Workspace.
While I am sad to leave PwC, as it has been a great place with the best colleagues and leaders you can look up to — but to me, life is simply too short for M365. I left PwC to find a new Workspace home.

In my spare time, I tried to identify other bottlenecks where Workspace could make a difference. I specifically hunted for this position, for the opportunity to earn a living and simultaneously caring for my passion for Workspace, ideally upgrading to an internal IT position at Just Eat.
